Mourinho speaks out about Amorim: 'Only he understands why MU dismissed him'

Jose Mourinho offers words of encouragement to Ruben Amorim following his dismissal from Manchester United, stressing that only Amorim fully comprehends the reasons and his capabilities.

Manchester United has officially parted ways with coach Ruben Amorim after a series of disappointing results, and immediately, fellow countryman Jose Mourinho shared his thoughts with the Portuguese media, expressing sympathy for his colleague. Mourinho, who once managed the Red Devils and is one of the most renowned Portuguese coaches worldwide, highlighted that only Amorim understands the reasons behind the club’s decision to sack him.

“Only he and his team can analyze what happened to Ruben. I believe Ruben will do that himself. Whether he will publicly share his views, I do not know,” Mourinho stated. When asked if Amorim’s dismissal might affect the career prospects of other Portuguese coaches, the “Special One” replied frankly: “I don’t think so. Every coach is responsible for their own path.”

Mourinho also reflected on his own time managing Manchester United, where he won the 2017 Europa League and led the club to a runner-up finish in the Premier League. “I am well aware of my career at Man Utd and the reasons for leaving the club. When a door closes, I don’t make public comments. The achievements, statistics, and three trophies remain—that is history,” Mourinho shared. After leaving Old Trafford, he went on to manage Tottenham, Roma, Fenerbahce, and currently Benfica.

Regarding Amorim’s potential, Mourinho commented: “He is a coach with talent and personality. Given stability, Ruben can definitely achieve great things at Manchester United.” He also emphasized that, amid many changes in the Red Devils’ leadership, long-term trust is crucial for a young coach to implement his ideas.

Currently, Manchester United is reportedly considering appointing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as interim manager until the end of the season, while the club continues actively searching for a permanent successor to Amorim. This decision marks a new challenging phase for the Red Devils, following their worst Premier League season in history under the Portuguese coach’s leadership.
