'Vietnamese football's "Superman" officially leaves HAGL

Trần Gia Huy leaves HAGL to transfer to Xuân Thiện Phú Thọ in the First Division.

Midfielder Trần Gia Huy has officially said goodbye to Hoàng Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) Club to sign with Xuân Thiện Phú Thọ for the second half of the 2025/26 National First Division season. This move is seen as a strategic step by the 2003-born player to seek regular playing time and continue to prove his worth after a period of struggling to secure a spot at the Mountain Town team.

Trần Gia Huy is one of the most unique talents from the famous HAGL JMG academy. He made headlines when accepted into the academy despite being only 1.26m tall at age 10, labeled a "frail prodigy" due to malnutrition. However, thanks to a special care program from Nutifood Academy, Gia Huy underwent a remarkable physical transformation. From 1.33m at 13 years old, he now boasts an ideal height over 1.75m with a solid physique.

The nickname "Superman" not only refers to his miraculous physical growth but also reflects the energetic playing style of this midfielder. Gia Huy possesses skillful technique, sharp tactical thinking, and intelligent ball control in the midfield. He was once expected to become a new star of Vietnamese football due to his calm playing style and keen tactical vision.

Although his journey with V.League clubs like Hải Phòng, Bình Định, and HAGL was not very smooth, Gia Huy still left a strong impression in the First Division. Wearing Hòa Bình FC’s jersey last season, the 22-year-old midfielder revived impressively under coach Lê Quốc Vượng. He became an indispensable pillar, greatly contributing to the Northwest team’s successful fight to stay up by finishing 7th overall.

The move to Xuân Thiện Phú Thọ marks Gia Huy’s second return to his hometown ground. With experience gained from Hòa Bình and HAGL, he is expected to be a key "transfer hub," bringing creativity and toughness to the midfield in the fierce second half race.

Trần Gia Huy’s career is a testament to his never-give-up spirit in the face of adversity. At 22, the best years of his career are still ahead. Mountain Town fans continue to watch closely and hope the "Superman" will soon shine brightly in the First Division to one day return stronger on the V.League stage.
