Post-Ferguson Era Manchester United Premier League Managers' Win Rates: Mourinho Tops, Ten Hag Second, Amorrin at the Bottom

On January 5th, Manchester United confirmed that Amorrin has been relieved of his duties. He is the second manager among the Premier League big six to be dismissed in 2026, alongside Chelsea's Maresca, who left his post on New Year's Day.

Following Amorrin's exit, Manchester United is entering a new phase of turmoil and reconstruction. In light of this, the Premier League officially shared a comparison chart of all Manchester United managers' Premier League statistics since the Ferguson era, ranked by their win rates.

  • First place: Mourinho, with 93 matches, 50 wins, 26 draws, and 17 losses, holding a win rate of 53.8%.
  • Second place: Ten Hag, with 85 matches, 44 wins, 14 draws, and 27 losses, achieving a win rate of 52.8%.
  • Third place: Solskjær, with 109 matches, 56 wins, 29 draws, and 24 losses, maintaining a win rate of 51.4%.
  • Fourth place: Van Gaal, with 76 matches, 39 wins, 19 draws, and 18 losses, posting a win rate of 51.3%.
  • Fifth place: Moyes, with 34 matches, 17 wins, 6 draws, and 11 losses, holding a win rate of 50%.
  • Sixth place: Amorrin, with 47 matches, 15 wins, 13 draws, and 19 losses, recording a win rate of 31.9%.

Looking at this, Amorrin’s self-description as not a Manchester United coach but rather a manager seems baffling. His tenure at Manchester United was his first managing a top-five European league club, and he is the only post-Ferguson Manchester United manager with a Premier League win rate below 50%, a poor 31.9%. With underwhelming results and a difficult temperament, his dismissal appears justified.
