After Amorim was sacked, voices demanding the restoration of Manchester United’s identity have become stronger.
Ruben Amorim has officially been dismissed by Manchester United after a controversial statement following the 1-1 draw with Leeds.. A serious rift developed between the Portuguese coach and INEOS – Manchester United’s board, making the separation inevitable.
According to Gary Neville – former Manchester United captain – the sacking of Amorim reflects poorly on the entire management system.Board.
“It shows that nothing is working effectively; from start to finish, decisions have failed to deliver results,”Neville told Sky Sports. “Especially when you dismiss a manager mid-season, it’s very challenging to find a worthy replacement.”
Neville pointed out that over the past decade, from Louis van Gaal, Mourinho, to Ten Hag and now Amorim, all brought football philosophies unfamiliar to Manchester United’s traditions. Their failures prove the Red Devils must return to their roots.
“Experiments with different playing styles must end. Sir Bobby Charlton once said: Manchester United is a club of risk-taking, of attacking, expansive football, where young players are given opportunities,”Neville stated.
“Manchester United needs a manager who fits that DNA. Ajax won’t change for anyone, nor will Barcelona. And I believe Manchester United shouldn’t change for anyone either. The club must now find an experienced coach willing to pursue fast, daring, attacking, and spirited football,”said the legend who won the Premier League eight times.
Another Manchester United legend, Darren Fletcher, will temporarily take charge for the next two matches against Burnley (Premier League) and Brighton (FA Cup). Meanwhile, INEOS will evaluate suitable managerial candidates.
Manchester United is even considering a short-term deal with a club legend to stabilize the situation before reassessing at the season’s end. Michael Carrick, Kieran McKenna, Fletcher, and Ole Solskjaer are all under consideration.
