Super substitute with a Red Devils heart: Solskjaer willing to step in as Manchester United's interim manager, boasting a higher win rate than Amorim

Solskjaer, known as Manchester United’s super substitute during his playing career with many heroic moments, is now a coach willing to rescue the club again by taking the interim manager role. Italian transfer expert Romano revealed that the club legend and former manager is highly motivated to come back temporarily to assist the team. He is ready to dedicate himself fully to United and does not care about the contract duration, sincerely returning with a Red Devils heart.

It is reported that since leaving Turkish Süper Lig side Beşiktaş in August 2025, Solskjaer has been without a coaching role. His last stint managing Manchester United was from December 2018 to November 2021, during whichhe served as interim manager for 19 matches, achieving 14 wins, 2 draws, and 3 losses (a 73.7% win rate); and as full-time manager for 149 matches, with 78 wins, 33 draws, and 38 losses (a 53.3% win rate).

During Amorim’s time managing Manchester United, he recorded 25 wins, 15 draws, and 23 losses in 63 matches, with a win rate of only 39.7%.Frankly, it’s hard to understand why Manchester United hired a rookie coach instead of their own club legend Solskjaer. In my opinion, inviting lesser-known coaches is not as good as bringing back Solskjaer, who at least has a genuine Red Devils heart.

It is understood that Manchester United’s leadership does not plan to appoint a permanent manager at this stage. The club intends to select a full-time coach in the summer rather than right now. This means if Solskjaer returns as interim manager, he could at least lead the team through the remainder of the current season.
