Coach Zidane agrees to lead MU if two conditions are met

Zinedine Zidane is said to accept managing Manchester United provided the "Red Devils" meet two important requirements from the French tactician.

Recently, Manchester United officially announced the dismissal of coach Ruben Amorim, ending his brief 14-month tenure at Old Trafford. The poor performance of the "Red Devils" alongside disagreements with the club's leadership led to the Portuguese coach losing trust and consequently accepting his departure.

This means Manchester United's staff must search for a replacement, and Zinedine Zidane is once again mentioned as a candidate at this moment. The French coach has been without a managerial role since 2021, when he parted ways with Real Madrid for the second time. Nevertheless, Zidane remains a highly sought-after coach, having won three consecutive Champions League titles with Real Madrid, in addition to two La Liga trophies.

According to Emmanuel Petit, who played alongside Zidane for the French national team, certain conditions must be met to convince Zizou to return to coaching.

Petit stated in 2024: “Honestly, I know Zizou a bit, and he needs guarantees if he wants to sign with Manchester United.”

The Arsenal legend added: “Over the years, the environment at Manchester United has not been good. Stability on the coaching bench, the quality of players, and the club's expectations are no longer what they used to be. Manchester United remains a big club, but it no longer shows that on the pitch. And Zizou is very aware and cautious about this, especially regarding the quality of the players.”

Petit continued: “Can he turn things around there? I think the only answer is yes. But right now, looking at the squad, I am not convinced by the level of some players.

So, if I were Zizou, I think answering the question about joining Manchester United would be quite straightforward. Adding to that, not speaking English would create even more communication issues in the dressing room.

If he takes the job at Manchester United, it means he has a solution. At present, I’m not sure many people actually have a solution to change things at Manchester United.

Does he want to leave the sunny days in Madrid? His life is tied to Madrid. I’m also not sure he speaks English well. Communication is very important in the locker room.”

Currently, some sources say Zidane is being considered for the head coach position of the French national team in the post-World Cup 2026 period. The prospect of taking over Les Bleus is believed to be more attractive to him than returning to manage a top club.

Meanwhile, Manchester United continues to struggle on their path to regain past glory. Last season, the "Red Devils" finished 15th in the Premier League and suffered a bitter defeat to Tottenham in the UEFA Europa League final.

This season’s situation is not much better, with an early exit from the Carabao Cup and only 8 wins from 20 Premier League matches so far.
